Randall Model #17-5 1/2 inch-ASTRO!
The Model #17, ASTRO, was the first knife in space! It is a royal bitch to make for a couple of reasons. 1) The tang holes, handle material and all fastening hardware have to be individually fitted as there are no jigs used on these custom-fitted handle scales. (Similar to a Colt Single Action)...2) This knife sports the 'only' solid stainless steel hilt, which requires a different degree of heat and a special solder to affix the hilt.
This knife features the only option available on an Astro (except for name etching)...a Model C sheath in black leather (a $35.00 option). I sure hope you like what you see. Oh: The SPACEPORT CUTLERY table sign is a nod to my old friend, Perry Miller!
