RVN-Era Randall Model #12-9 in., SPORTSMANS BOWIE!
Hi folks,
I picked this way-cool Sportsmans Bowie up in a trade at the last Tulsa (April/Spring) gun & knife show. I traded to brand new RMK #14's for it. The Veteran that traded it to me wanted 2 Randalls for his kids (or Grandkids, I forget which). I'll list the characteristics below which puts this knife in the late 1960s to early 70s.
It appears to have had the blade polished at some point but the sheath, hone and everything else is dead-mint!! The small lugs are from another time in the Randall knife world. Just one small example of how RMKs, while being quite similar over the years, have changed and gotten heavier and beefier. This one feels like 'solid-gold'! I hope it will find a space on your collector's shelf!
Stay sharp, Capt. Chris
