Randall Model #13-6 inch: Old Yeller!!
I bought this knife from the Randall shop, brand new in 1985 or 85. It has been in The Captain's 'STASH' ever since! Originally (sorry: no photos of it from way-back when) this handle was referred to as 'Ivorite'. Westinghouse made this micarta to be used as insulators for circuit boards and various electrical and electronic purposes. It was almost snow white back then. This material ages and yellows with time. Having had this one stored in my safe, the process of yellowing has remained constant and 'the same' throughout the material. When displayed and made exposed to any type of light, the material would darken more on the exposed side...not the case here.
The blade has never been re-sharpened, polished or cleaned in any way! The same can be said for the brass hardware, which features:
* Double hilt
* Scalloped collar
* Scalloped butt cap
The Johnson roughback sheath is period correct for sheaths made after 1984 (or so) and features the original 'baby dot' snap! I hope it will find a nice spot on your collector's shelf!
Thanks, Capt. Chris
