CAPTAIN CHRIS' COPPER CUSTOMS
Hi folks,
James Behring and I got to talkin' (a very dangerous circumstance) at this year's 'Blade' show. Over the course of the show (...and during the past couple of months) we have hammered out (Get it? 'Hammered' out?) a deal...and your fixin' to see the very first 'end results' from that deal! Please take a few moments to view 'all' of the photos within this offering. I think you'll be impressed.
I am very proud to announce my very first 'guarded dealer special', in conjunction with Behring Made Knives of Missoula, Montana! The 'CAPTAIN CHRIS' COPPER CUSTOMS' are now available and we are taking special orders as well! I'll list as much information as ya'll can read (and still stay awake) below. It's safe to say that this offering is unprecedented and I couldn't be happier with the outcome! These 'CCCC''s will be available as a set...or as an individual order. The blade lengths may vary a little bit (welcome to the world of custom knives) but 'basically' the large Quad 'C' will be about 5 inches in length and the small one about 4 inches.
All of these blades have been hand-forged from O1 Swedish tool steel in Behring's shop in Missoula. If ya' want a super fancy, stainless steel, never-gonna do any work, kinda set...this ain't for you! These knives have been hammered out and are meant to be used and enjoyed! I promise you they'll take kindly to hard work and get better-lookin' with time! A natural patina and a few whiskey dents will just add to their personality.
I don't know exactly 'who' (or is that 'whom') had their hand in makin' these first sets for me. I do know that, like Pamela Anderson's augmentation surgeon, whomever did them...needs his hand shook! Just check 'em out! (The knives...not Pamela's artwork) You will come away impressed. Hammer-marked blades, an upswept semi-skinner pattern, Scagelest in look, function and design will have you asking: 'Why hasn't someone built these before'?
The copper hardware is, not only a nice touch, but standard in some configuration on all 'CCCC's. I hope you agree with the pattern and our philosophy for these splendid blades. The idea is to provide a set of knives that you can take anywhere and use on all kinds of game, at the camp, in the kitchen or just on standby and at your ready! They won't let you down. Please call if you have any specific questions as to 'what is...and what isn't' available.
The sets shown here have an antique yellowish/gold micarta handle in 2 different shapings. Multiple spacer arrangements ( just like Wm. Scagel) with copper hilts, spacers and pins will be standard equipment. They come with custom Mosher pouch-styled sheaths included. The sheaths may be pigskin, 'cat-a- nine tails' embossed or horsehide (smooth) leather! Black or dark brown colors are available. Prices start at $795.00 per set and shipping & insurance (in the USA) will run $22.50. Scheduled delivery will run around 90 days per order. Individual knives will be priced at $425.00 each (and up).
Exotic handle material is available and prices will be on a quote basis, dependent upon availability and pricing at the time of your order. Nothing is out of bounds or off limits! I you are interested in a unique 'one of a kind' pair, just give me a call or an email.
Please note: These knives are available through yours truly 'only'! If you call James Behring, or Behring Made Knives, you will only be referred to me. I'll be more than happy to help you come up with something you'll love and that will give you pride of ownership. I don't want anyone having a knife from me they don't like! If you get it in and don't like it...send it back! No problem!
Long-winded write-up but there's a lot to cover. I hope ya'll are still awake! My thanks go out to James and his capable crew for the opportunity to offer you good folks an 'absolutely' custom-made set of knives! The pricing above will cover handles made up as listed below:
A) Micarta
B) Some custom woods
C) Horsehide leather washers with copper spacers and a crown stag butt
D) Same with a crotch stag butt
Other handle configurations quoted on an individual basis. There's also one more thing (and then I'll let ya' go...I promise)
When James first sent me photos of this knife design he called it an 'Old School Semi-Skinner'. I couldn't agree more and, being as I'm one of the 'old school', each knife will be sold and come complete with a shiny penny (just so we don't break the friendship).
Stay sharp, Capt. Chris
